I know a number of people (maybe you do, too) who treated this day as though nothing much happened. I’m sad for them. Truly. Obama’s second term will be full-throated, as the inaugural address made quite clear, it isn’t like Republicans should be all that afraid. Not really. They should be more afraid of the TP element within. That’s the ticking time bomb for the Republican Party—the factor that could actually split the party in fact.
I’m still not convinced that’s a good thing, but we shall see what happens. If the R.’s continue down the road they’re choosing, this is all but inevitable, I should think. Buckley would’ve hated this, and he’d have had a point.
